CAVALIERS WHIP BOBCATS 51-30

Jenny Gates had 13 points and Ashley Moore added 10 as Lord Botetourt, ranked second in Timesland, defeated Radford 51-30 in high school girls' basketball Saturday in Daleville.

The Cavaliers (8-1) were in control from the outset and led 28-17 at halftime.

Crystal Hubbard led Radford (1-9) with 11 points. \

Trailing by nine in the third quarter, William Byrd slapped a full-court press on Glenvar, and it paid off in a 41-37 come-from-behind non-district win.

Taking advantage of Glenvar turnovers off its pressure, Byrd outscored the visitors 11-4 in the final quarter to post its fifth win in eight games. Cathy Smith paced Byrd with 15 points.

Marilea Hale had 18 points and Toree Morris 11 for Glenvar (6-2). Byrd has won two of three games against Glenvar this year.

\ In Rural Retreat, Tanya Tarter was one of four double-figure scorers as the Indians stayed unbeaten by crushing the Rockets 75-14 in a non-district game.

Beth Ketner had 14 points, Cassie Phipps scored 13 and Stephanie Kell added 10 for Rural Retreat (8-0).

Bland (0-7) trailed 46-7 at the half and never recovered. \
