CONFERENCE TO HEAR NOBEL LAUREATE SPEAK

Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine will deliver the keynote address at the second Appalachian Conference on Behavioral Neurodynamics, which gets Prigogine under way Oct. 4 at Radford University.

Prigogine - the co-author of "Order Out of Chaos," an international bestseller - will present his talk, "From Quantum to Chaos Theory," Oct 4. at 1 p.m.

Prigogine, a native of Russia, won the 1977 Nobel Prize for chemistry. He's affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin.

He'll be one of 22 scheduled conference speakers from various disciplines.

The theme of this year's conference is "Origins: Brain and Self-Organization." Topics will include image processing in sensory systems and the construction of language in humans.

The conference is sponsored by the university's Center for Brain Research and Informational Sciences and the New College of Global Studies.
