Kroger branch banks to open on holidays

NBC Bank, which operates branches inside six Kroger supermarkets, said it will be open Columbus Day even though it's a national holiday when its competitors are likely to be closed.

James Beckner, manager of the bank in Roanoke, said NBC is open regular hours on four traditional banking holidays - Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day.

The bank will conduct business on Oct. 11, Columbus Day, and Nov. 11, Veterans Day. Employees who work will receive a compensatory day off, he said. - Staff report
