MURDEN-HOGE

Miss Julia Courtney Hoge and Mr. Stephen Earl Murden were married on October 9, 1993, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Va. The Reverend James F. Riach officiated. Julia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Courtney Hoge of Salem, Va. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ray D. Courtney and the late Dr. Courtney and Mrs. Francis M. Hoge and the late Judge Hoge, all of Marion, Va.

Stephen is the grandson of Mrs. Bernice Murden of Yorktown, Va., and of Mrs. Dolores Gildness of Mt. Vernon, Washington.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal gown of white satin with a scalloped sweetheart neckline and cathedral train.

Ashley Adams of North Potomac, Maryland, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Sarah Katherine Hoge, younger sister of the bride was junior bridesmaid. Bridesmaids were Kristina M. Murden of Yorktown, Va., sister of the groom; Elizabeth Kilby of Daleville, Va., cousin of the bride; Mary-Beth L. Nash of Richmond, Va.; Mary W. First of Atlanta, Ga., Sally W. Logan of Dover, Delaware.

Craig S. Murden of Greenville, North Carolina, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Miles C. Hoge of Salem, Va., brother of the bride; John F. Harris III of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; R. Brad Williams of Tabb, Va.; Kenney A. Wells of Yorktown, Va.; Dwayne S. Haywood of Yorktown, Va.

Flower girls were Misses Catherine M. Thompson and Juliana B. Thompson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Thompson of Charlottesville, Va. Ring bearer was Master David N. Fintel, son of Dr. and Mrs. William Fintel.

Programs were given out by Miss Karli A. Spetzler, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bertram Spetzler and Master Stephen J. Fintel and Master Michael P. Fintel. The guest registry was attended by Christine M. Brady and Julie D. Poff. The aisle cloth was attended by Master Andrew E. Fintel and Master B. Scott Thompson.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception at Hidden Valley Country Club.

Mrs. Richard Garbee of Salem was wedding consultant and director.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of James Madison University. Following a honeymoon to Sea Island, Georgia, the couple will reside in Newport News, Va., where the bride is employed by State Farm Insurance Company and the groom by Tidewater First Securities.
