OBIT ALLEN, DORIS CARTER
ALLEN, Doris Carter, 67, of High Acre Road, Bedford, died Thursday, October
14, 1993, in a Roanoke hospital. She was born in Bedford County, October 28,
1925, a daughter of the late Jake and Pernie Elliott Carter. She was the widow
of Edward Swanson Allen, a member of Bedford Baptist Church, and was a
registered nurse, having received her training at the former Jefferson School
of Nursing. She is survived by a son, John Edward Allen, Roanoke; two
daughters, Constance-Joy Allen Conner, Danville, Cheryl Lynne Allen Vogt,
Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Mildred C. Graves, Martinsville; a grandchild,
Christopher Allen Conner. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October
16, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with Dr. J. Marshall
Walker officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the
Bedford Life Saving Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home.
