Film director Federico Fellini was in a coma and breathing with the help of a respirator Monday after suffering a heart attack, doctors at Rome's Polyclinic Hospital said.

The physician of the 73-year-old Oscar winner, Dr. Gianfranco Turchetti, called Fellini's condition "very grave but stable." Fellini suffered a stroke in August.

Fellini was stricken at the hospital's rehabilitation center after dinner Sunday, when he appeared in good spirits and discussed plans for his 50th wedding anniversary, said his sister-in-law, Magdelena Masina.

Maybe it's the suit that turns them off. Defying expectations, fans are staying away in droves from the trial of Axl Rose over a 1991 Guns N' Roses concert that turned into a riot.

On Monday morning, only two fans were in the St. Louis Circuit courtroom - a woman about 20 who asked a photographer if Rose was there yet, and a man about 25 wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

Rose, 31, showed up clad in a purple suit and matching tie over a black shirt, his light red hair streaming neatly past his shoulders.

Rose is being sued by Billy Stephenson, a 28-year-old fan who says he suffered back and ear injuries after Rose allegedly landed on him during the concert. Because a fan had taken unauthorized pictures, Rose dove off the stage, allegedly threw punches and stormed off with his band. A riot erupted, injuring 65 people.
