BLAND WOMAN, 77, DIES IN HOUSE FIRE

A 77-year-old Bland County woman died early Thursday when her two-story frame house was destroyed by fire.

Authorities identified the victim as Claudine Waddell.

Sheriff Melvin Cox said the fire, reported shortly after 4 a.m., apparently was caused by an electrical problem. The home was in the Waddelltown section of the county.
