BLACKSBURG CABLE ANNOUNCES NEW CHANNELS, OTHER CHANGES

Blacksburg Cable TV is adding three new channels to its lineup Dec. 1 and switching two of its most popular channels to limited basic service.

The Learning Channel, the Sci-Fi Channel and the International Channel will be added to the company's extended basic services.

"Those were far and away the most requested channels from our customer base," said Jim Corrin, general manager of Blacksburg Cable.

In addition, WGN from Chicago and WTBS from Atlanta are being shifted to limited basic service to "add a little pep" to that lineup.

WGN will move from channel 15 to 3, replacing CanCom. The Learning Channel, which features documentaries on history, the arts and sciences as well as shows on cooking and home repair, takes over channel 15.

WTBS will move from channel 16 to 6, replacing SCOLA. The Sci-Fi channel will move into WTBS' old slot.

The International Channel, which carries news, films and sports from around the globe, will replace Univision on channel 37.

There will be no rate changes. Limited basic (channels 2-13) will remain $6.76 and extended basic (channels 2-37) will continue at $20.27.
