MINETTES STOP BEES 59-50

Amy Baxter scored six of her 13 points in the fourth quarter as Liberty held off Brookville for a 59-50 Seminole District girls' basketball victory Monday night.

Brookville's Bees trailed 27-20 at halftime and pulled to 41-38 at the end of the third quarter and closed to 41-40 to start the fourth quarter. After that the teams played close but the Minettes (14-3 overall, 14-3 district) pulled away.

Felicia Miller led Liberty with 18 points, and Kellea Whorley added 14. Baxter had nine assists.

For Brookville (9-7, 9-7), Kristie Fisher had 18 points and Jackie Gay had 13. \

Christiansburg 56

Craig County 33

CHRISTIANSBURG - Rebecca McNeil scored 23 points and led the Demons over the Rockets in a non-district games. Craig County's Chrissy Robertson also had 23 points. Craig County's tough zone slowed Christiansburg (7-9) in the first half, but the Demons adjusted in the second half, going to their inside game and pulling away.

NARUNA - Tanya Nelms scored 17 points to lead the Golden Eagles past the Generals in a Seminole District game. The teams were tied at 34 after three quarters, but Staunton River (14-2) outscored William Campbell 10-4 in the final quarter. Hope Cook led the Generals with 20 points. \
