PROSECUTOR CALLS IVERSON ARTICLE ERRONEOUS

A story on former Bethel High School standout Allen Iverson in the Oct. 25 issue of Sports Illustrated contains so many errors that a Hampton prosecutor has sent a six-page letter to the magazine, listing some - but not all - of the mistakes.

"It is surprising that a magazine of national prominence and with a respectable reputation would display such a complete and utter disregard for the truth, and, in fact, would report blatant falsehoods," wrote Colleen Killilea, the assistant commonwealth's attorney who prosecuted Iverson.

The four-page article addresses racial tensions that have divided Hampton since Iverson's sentencing. Iverson, who won All-America honors as a basketball player and also was All-Group AAA selection in football, received a five-year sentence in September on three charges stemming from a bowling-alley brawl in February.
