DOMINO'S PIZZA CLERK IS ROBBED

A Domino's Pizza clerk has become the latest victim of an armed robber who police say preys on women working alone in stores during daylight.

Police say he is responsible for at least a half-dozen robberies in Roanoke and Salem dating back to last month.

All his victims have been women whom he told to count to 30 while he left the store. He also instructed them to call police after they finished counting.

One of the victims said the man tried to force her to have sex with him.

Salem police have requested assistance from Crime Line in seeking citizen help in identifying the suspect. Crime Line's newspaper, radio and television announcements offer rewards for information leading to arrests.

Roanoke police said the robbery at Domino's on Peters Creek Road happened at 10:45 a.m. Saturday as clerk Kelly L. Stinson was opening the store.

Before she could unlock the door, a man knocked. Police said Stinson thought the man was a customer and opened the door for him.

Once inside, he brandished a blue-steel pistol and demanded money. He locked the front door until he got it.

Before leaving, he took Stinson into a restroom and told her to count to 30 before calling police.
