EXTENSION AGENT, INSTRUCTOR DIES

Mary Marshall, retired head of the Virginia Tech clothing, textile and related arts department, died Sunday at the age of 63.

Marshall began her career in clothing as an extension agent at the University of Kentucky and came to Tech in 1970. She was an instructor and an extension specialist until 1986, when she became the head of the department.

She was noted for her contributions to the technical area of clothing and textile, working in particular with the area of clothing for the family. She supported 4-H youth programs and was committed to the university extension program.

Marshall retired in 1990 after 20 years with Tech.
