OBIT GREENE, HATTIE SORRELLS

GREENE, Hattie Sorrells, of Fairfield, died Saturday, November 13, 1993. She was dead on arrival at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was the widow of H. Guy Greene, who died August 24, 1970. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was born May 20, 1896 in Amherst County, the daughter of William J. Sorrells and Florence Coffey Sorrells. Mrs. Greene was a member of the Spring Valley Baptist Church. She had been a patient in the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center in Buena Vista for the past two years. Surviving are one son, Franklin G. Greene, Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. Doc (Elsie) Coleman, Mrs. Marvin (Jo) Gilliam, both of Fairfield, Mrs. Hansford (Dot) Hite, Vesuvius; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 1993 from the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Mace and the Rev. Albert Schrader officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. Memorial donations should be made to the Buena Vista First Aid Crew or the Spring Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington, and other times at the residence of the family members.
