MAN HOLDS UP BANK; NO ARREST MADE

A man robbed the Roanoke branch of the First National Bank of Rocky Mount in the 1700 block of Hershberger Road N.W. on Monday morning and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

He told a clerk that he had a gun and demanded that the cash be placed on a counter.

Police said the man never displayed a gun and kept his hand in his coat pocket.

No arrest had been made by Monday afternoon. The robbery was being investigated by Roanoke police and the FBI.
