SMITHFIELD PLANTATION CELEBRATES HOLIDAY

Smithfield Plantation, the antique plantation home deeded to the local Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, is celebrating an Old Fashioned Colonial Holiday on Dec. 4 and 5.

The home will be illuminated with candles and decorated in the Colonial manner. Cookie baking will be demonstrated in the winter kitchen, and special music is planned in the drawing room. Colonial fare and refreshments will be served to visitors.

Greenery, holiday pastries and Colonial and Williamsburg-style decorations may be purchased.

A sneak preview of gift and craft items for sale will be held at the museum gift shop on Dec. 1 and 2, 1-4 p.m.

All events are open to the public. There is an admission fee to tour the house.

Smithfield Plantation is located off Virginia 314, the Virginia Tech campus exit from U.S. 460. For more information, call 951-2060.
