NEED HOLIDAY HELP? SEE SALVATION ARMY

The Salvation Army will continue accepting applications this week from families in need of help during the holiday season.

Maj. Dan Delaney, commanding officer, said the organization will take applications today and Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Salvation Army offices at 724 Dale Ave. S.E. in Roanoke.

Applicants are asked to bring proof of income, any bills, identification and Social Security numbers.

Delaney said the Salvation Army signed up 3,000 applicants the week before Thanksgiving.

"Last year, we had 3,800, so I know there are more people out there," he said.
