OBIT BROWN, ELSIE MAE BURFORD
BROWN, Elsie Mae Burford, 97, of Danville, formerly of Roanoke, died
Monday, November 29, 1993, at her home. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Calloway Brown and a daughter, Mary Brown Sowder. Surviving are
daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Brown Boggs, Danville, Shirley M. Brown,
Arlington, Frances B. and C. Ural Manuel, Roanoke, Ruth B. and Daniel A.
Humbert, Troutville; sons and daughter-in-law, Irvin C. and Edith G. Brown,
Hickory, N.C., Robert H. Brown, Alexandria; son-in-law, Basil N. Sowder,
Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be
held Thursday, December 2, 1993, at noon at Sherwood Memorial Park, with the
Rev. Harold Carter Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 7
to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
