COMMUNITY FUND

The recent creation of the Roanoke Valley Children's Fund is a timely reminder, as the season of giving is upon us, that such community foundations can help people make their home town a better place far longer than they'll be able to take a direct hand in its life.

The endowment fund for children's services was created by The Foundation for Roanoke Valley with a gift from the B. Wilson Porterfield Jr. Foundation. The Porterfield foundation promised to put another $50,000 in the fund if the community matches its initial $100,000 gift.
