UVA'S DRAKEFORD ARRESTED

Konecka Drakeford, the No. 2 scorer for the Virginia women's basketball team, was arrested Friday on charges of credit card theft and credit card fraud, university police said.

Debbie Ryan, the Cavaliers' coach, suspended Drakeford until the matter is settled. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 4 in Albemarle County General District Court.

University police Capt. Bill Morris said Drakeford took an automatic teller machine card from a woman who lives in her dormitory and used the card to withdraw $400 from a bank account.

Drakeford, 18, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., was released on a personal recognizance bond, Morris said.
