SNOW ANGELS

Can you imagine there could have been anything positive about Western Virginia's battle with the winter elements this year?

All the ice, sleet and freezing rain seemed to bring out the best in many people.

We got a bunch of letters from those wishing to thank their "snow angels," the neighbors who shovel the sidewalks and driveways of those who can't do for themselves. Without ever being asked.

These angels hail from Elks Creek, Shawsville, Boones Mill, Austinville, Roanoke and Blacksburg.

Their names are: Alfred Tinsley, Charles Smith Jr., John West, Glenn Long, Tom and Margie Runions, J.S., Ezra Wertz, Jerry Simms, Ray Maddox, Allen Sisson, Leon Dudley, Jim Hurst and 6-year-old Kabi Tullah and his 4-year-old sister, Kenesha.
