FORMER BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANT OUT ON BOND

A former Virginia beauty contestant accused in an attack on a Ronceverte man has been released from Greenbrier County Jail on $42,000 bond, police said.

Tracy Michelle Lippard, first runner-up in the 1993 Miss Williamsburg pageant, had been held on charges of malicious wounding, brandishing, carrying a concealed weapon and attempted murder, police said.

Authorities alleged she unsuccessfully plotted the demise of a rival for her former boyfriend's affections. She was arrested when the rival's father, Rodney Weikle, 50, restrained Lippard after she struck him in the head with a hammer.

Lippard, 22, of Newport News, Va., had brought a butcher knife, 9 mm pistol, the hammer, charcoal lighter and matches to the residence, police said.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Greenbrier County Circuit Court.
