ROANOKE WOMAN DIES IN FALL FROM CAR

A Roanoke woman was killed Sunday when she fell out of the open T-top of a moving car in Giles County.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Vera J. Jenkins was riding south on Virginia 61 near Narrows in a car driven by Jeffrey Trout. State police said she stood up through the open roof of the car, fell out and hit a guardrail.

Police said Jenkins, 40, was taken to Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, where she was pronounced dead a half-hour later.
