COMING EASTER SEASON MEANS LOTS OF SPECIAL MUSIC|

Several area churches will play host to visiting musical groups as the Easter season approaches:

A brass quintet from Radford University will perform at WHITE MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Shawsville, Sunday during the 11 a.m. service. Luncheon follows. 268-5901.

The A Capella Singers of Ohio Valley College visit BLACKSBURG CHURCH OF CHRIST, 315 E. Eakin St., Sunday. A potluck supper gets under way at 5 p.m. A brief devotional, "Why Do We Worship Without Instruments?" starts at 6. The concert follows. 552-1331.

The Strings sing at PILOT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Virginia 615, tonight at 7. 382-2267.

The 40-voice Wesley Singers from the Wesley Foundation at Virginia Tech present a dramatic musical program, "All Hail the Power ... The Victor" Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at GROVE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Radford. The program concludes a series of Lenten midweeks at the church.

The Kingdom Heirs of Dollywood make their only Virginia appearance Friday, 7 p.m., at BELVIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3619 Onyx Drive, just off Virginia 114 and about a mile from the Radford Arsenal. 382-6286 or 639-1230.

Atlanta Christian College Concert Choir performs at COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, McCoy, March 26 at 6 p.m. The concert theme is "Honored, Glorified, Exalted." 639-3764 or 639-0937.

The Pilgrim Gospel Singers are in concert at BLACKSBURG PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH, Warren and Center streets next Saturday at 7 p.m.

The New River Valley Gospel Singers visit RANDOLPH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1607 Randolph Ave., Pulaski, March 27, 5 p.m. for their ninth anniversary concert. 639-5159.

THE MARTIN FAMILY holds its Anniversary Sing 94 tonight at 7 at Auburn High School auditorium in Riner. Charles Johnson and the Revivers and The Wilburns also will be on hand. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are $8 in adance, $10 at the door. Children under 12 are $5. 381-1137 or 382-1054.

A "walk-through" EASTER DRAMA, "The Alpha and the Omega," will be presented March 26 and 27at First Baptist Church, Kimberland and Wolf streets, Narrows, starting at 6 p.m. both nights. Groups of about ten people will begin the walk-through followed by additional groups every ten minutes. The performance is sponsored by Voices of Vision drama team and the Sunday school department. The public is welcome; it is free.

On the calendar of LENTEN OBSERVANCES:

"The Christian in the New Ecological Age" is the theme of Lenten events featuring JANE BLEWETT of the Earthcommunity Center in Maryland. She addresses an ecumenical service Sunday, 11 a.m., at the Radford High School Auditorium. A reception follows. Sunday evening, she'll talk at 7 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1740 Tyler Road, Radford. Monday and Tuesday, she visits Christ Lutheran Church, Harvey and Second streets, Radford, 10 a.m. both days. Also Monday, Blewett speaks on "Ecology and Justice" at the Radford University Bread for Life program at noon in Heth Lounge C. Monday evening at 7, Blewett will be at Grace Episcopal Church, Fourth and Harvey streets, Radford. The series concludes Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church of Radford, Fourth and Randolph streets with a catered supper at 6:15 p.m. and a talk at 7:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.

Except for the supper Tuesday, all events are free; however, an offering will be taken to help defray expenses. A nursery is available. 639-5341 or 639-2585.

In Pulaski, CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH concludes its series of community programs "Save the Children" Wednesday as Sheriff Ralph Dobbins of Pulaski County discusses youth and firearms. A potluck meal at 6 is followed by a message and discussion ending by 7:30.

St. MICHAEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2308 Merrimac Road, Blacksburg, concludes its Wednesday evening services this week along the theme "Praying the Psalms." A supper at 6 precedes the service at 6:45. 552-0879.

The Lenten Concert-Worship series at CHRISTIANSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 107 W. Main St., this week concludes its series of Wednesday evening meditations "The Many Sides of the Cross." A light meal in the fellowship hall at 6:15 precedes music with The Brahms Trio and devotionals in the sanctuary at 7. Donations are welcome. 382-2802.

The CHRISTIANSBURG MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION wraps up its series of lunch and devotions Friday at noon with "God's Word" at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 203 Phlegar St. 382-2223 or 381-1558.

The ECUMENICAL LENTEN SERIES in Blacksburg with the theme "What Unites Us - What Divides Us" continues Wednesday with a presentation by Edith F. Patton at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. The series ends March 30 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, with the celebration of the Eucharist. A meal at 6 p.m. is followed by the message and discussion at 6:45. Programs conclude by 7:25. Child care is available.

The FLOYD COUNTY CHURCHES OF THE BRETHREN hold Lenten services Sunday evenings at 7:30:

Sunday, the Rev. E.L. Naff speaks at Parkway Church of the Brethren.

March 27, Palm Sunday, the Floyd County Ministerial Association sponsors a service at Floyd United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tom. Lamasney of the Floyd Church of the Nazarene, will speak.
