Actress Genevieve Bujold, who was supposed to be the newest "Star Trek" captain and the first woman to lead a starship in the series, has jumped ship.

Bujold gave "Star Trek: Voyager" the old heave-ho because "she realized that the rigors of episodic television were too demanding," the producers said.
