MARKET PLACE BANK OFFICE OK'D|

Town Council has cleared the way for yet another business along the burgeoning U.S. 460 corridor.

First National Bank of Christiansburg, which has offices under different roofs in Christiansburg and Blacksburg, wants to combine its operations in a new facility near the Market Place shopping center. Tuesday, council voted to allow the bank to combine the different properties it owns behind the Hardee's on U.S. 460 into one 61/2-acre parcel.

Bank President Sam Tollison said he wants to open the new building next year. The bank's business office on North Franklin Street in downtown Christiansburg will remain open, though administrative offices nearby will probably close, he said.
