OBIT-THOMPSON, EDNA C.

THOMPSON, Edna C., 58, of Christiansburg, died Sunday morning, January 2, 1994 in a Roanoke hospital. She was employed by the food services of the Montgomery County Public Schools, was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Christiansburg, where she was vice-president of the Women's Auxiliary of the church and was Chaplain of the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire department Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her father, Raynard W. Collins and is survived by her husband, Gratton H. Thompson Jr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Neal Turner, Christiansburg; two grandchildren, Terri Shephard and Brandon Turner; her mother, Gertrude M. Collins, Riner; brothers and sisters-in-law, I. W. and Linita Collins of Check, Harley and Sarah Collins, Jerry Collins, all of Riner; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Paul Poff, Christiansburg, Frances and Bob Shillingburg of Bedford, Elva Scaggs of Riner; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Kingrea and Rev. Jack Perdue. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Monday and the family will receive friends at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to either the Christiansburg Fire Department, P. O. Box 833, Christiansburg, Va. 24073, or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne.
