EMERGENCY FOOD, SHELTER FUNDS

Montgomery County and Radford have been selected to get additional money to supplement emergency food and shelter programs. The county received nearly $6,240, and the city got almost $1,765.

A local board, which includes representatives from the United Way, the American Red Cross, New River Community Action and other community organizations, will determine how the money will be distributed.

Qualifying local government or private, volunteer, nonprofit and nondiscriminatory organizations with experience in the delivery of emergency food or shelter programs may be eligible to apply.

The application deadline is Feb. 11.
