MEDICARE TO COVER CHEMOTHERAPY PILLS

Medicare beneficiaries suffering from cancer can now get government help to pay for certain chemotherapy pills, the government reminded people Wednesday.

Medicare normally does not cover outpatient prescription drugs, but the law was changed last year to provide reimbursement for anti-cancer drugs that people take themselves.

The Health Care Financing Administration said four anti-cancer drugs now are covered: cyclophosphamide tablets, etoposide capsules, methotrexate tablets and melphalan tablets. - Associated Press
