ROANOKE CITY COUNCIL

At a meeting Monday night, council took the following action: Approved a resolution urging the city's General Assembly delegation to support a $137 million bond issue to build roads leading to the proposed Disney's America theme park in Prince William County.

Agreed to spend $152,400 to save two residences in the Gainsboro neighborhood that would have been razed in the realignment of Wells Avenue Northeast. The houses - at 42 and 56 Wells - will be moved to three lots near the corner of Gilmer Avenue and Jefferson Street.

Appropriated $52,450 to cover overruns in the purchase of the Miller Morgan & Co. building needed for expanding the Roanoke City Jail. The sale price was $308,000; the budgeted price, $255,550.
