OBIT--COBLE, WALTER SHERMAN

COBLE, Walter Sherman, 64, of 917 Oakhurst Avenue, Pulaski, Va., died Thursday night, February 17, 1994 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He as born in Pulaski County on February 8, 1930 and was the son of the late William Sherman Coble and Jennie Lou Snavely Coble. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Artie Hurst and Mary Quesenberry. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski. He was a life member of the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. Mr. Coble was a veteran of the Korean War and served 11 years and nine months in the United States Army. He received a medical discharge. Surviving are his wife, Martha Etsuko N. Coble, Pulaski; four children, Eddie Coble, Homer Coble, both of Chicago, Martha Jean Coble Martin and Mary Ann Coble Szimis, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Coble, Hiwassee, Homer Coble, Pulaski; three sisters, Frances Crowder, Hattie Pruitt, both of Dublin, Julia Mabry, Draper. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Pruitt, the Rev. Mike Coleman, and the Rev. Norman Wilhoit officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens. Dublin, with Pulaski VFW Post #1184, conducting the military graveside rites. Visiting will be Sunday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
