MAROONS WHIP HOKIES IN OPENER

Four Roanoke College players scored three goals each as the Maroons whipped visiting Virginia Tech 21-10 in the opener for both teams at Alumni Field.

Jimmy Kammerman, Aaron Sims, J.J. Black and Pepper Deturo each had three goals for the Maroons, who outshot the Hokies 68-26.

In Lexington, Colin Higgins and Russell Croft scored three goals apiece as Washington and Lee beat St. Mary's (Md.) 11-6 in the opener for both teams.

St. Mary's led 3-1 before the Generals took control by scoring five consecutive goals.

In Lexington, Matt McLean's goal in the second overtime gave VMI a 5-4 victory over Limestone College in the opener for both teams.

Mike Fellows led the Keydets with two goals.
