ARMSTRONG, Kathryn Borden, 91, of Front Royal, died Sunday, April 3,1994. Funeral services will be April 6 at 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal. Mrs. Armstrong was born September 3, 1902, in Limeton, daughter of the late Joseph L. Borden Sr. and Sarah Herr Borden. She was the widow of William C. Armstrong Jr. She was a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn A. Johnson of Roanoke; brother, Joseph L. Borden Jr. of Westport, Conn.; grandsons, G. Edward Johnson III of Ashland, Michael Reid of Manassas, and William L. Johnson of Roanoke; granddaughter ,Susan Lee Reid-Carr of Richmond; four great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; several dear nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Lou Reid. Family will receive friends at the funeral home April 5, 7-9 p.m..

BAYNE, Roger Wayne, 30, of Lexington, died Saturday, April 2, 1994. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, Harrison Funeral Chapel, Lexington.

BRAMMER, Ingram Coy, 81, of 515 Darlington Dr., Rocky Mount, died Monday, April 4, 1994. Mr. Brammer was a son of the late William Curtis and Maude Ingram Brammer and was preceded in death by his wife, Allie M. Brammer; two sons, Ingram Coy Brammer Jr., James Brammer; two brothers, F. P. Brammer, J. Marvin Brammer and one sister, Elsie B. Goode. Proprietor of Brammer's Variety Store from 1928 until his retirement in 1980, he was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, past director of the Adult Sunday School Department, past director of Training Union, past Moderator of the Franklin County Baptist Association, past State Director of Training Unions and teacher of an adult mens Sunday school class until July 1993 when illness prevented his continuance. Mr. Brammer was a member of Rocky Mount Lodge #201 A.F. & A.M. for over 40 years and was a Past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Kazim Temple Shrine; a Past Patron and member of Rocky Mount Chapter #141 O.E.S.; a member of the Rocky Mount Lions Club for more than 50 years having served as President and Assistant Zone Chairman; was founding treasurer and Past President of the Franklin County Retail Merchants Association; founding treasurer and Past President of the Franklin County High School Band Booster Club and was a volunteer at the Franklin County Middle School and the Benjamin Franklin Middle School, West Hall, for 4 years. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Mary Ellen F. Brammer, Rocky Mount; his grandson, William H. Brammer Jr., Annandale; one brother, W. Jack Brammer, Rocky Mount; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Wright, Mrs. Ruth Doughtie and Mrs. Lucille Ingram, all of Roanoke; one brother-in-law, Kyle Goode, Rocky Mount; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Brammer, Ferrum, Mrs. Mignon Brammer, Roanoke, Mrs. Pearl Lemons, Ferrum, Mrs. Lessie Mason, Rocky Mount; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 3 p.m. at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Franklin County Rescue Squad. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 342 South Main St., Rocky Mount.

CHAMBERS, Barbara Jean Aaron, 62, of Roanoke, entered into rest on Monday, April 4, 1994, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers and a sister. Surviving are her ex-husband, Rev. John T. Chambers, Sr., Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Robert Morris, Goodview; a daughter, Pamela Moore, Roanoke; a son-in-law, Donald Moore, Ironto, a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Charles Board, Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Melinda Chambers, Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Michelle Chambers, Roanoke; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

CHOATE, Mrs. Bertha Catron, 98, of Sugar Grove, died Monday, April 4, 1994, at her home in Sugar Grove, Virginia. She was the widow of I. C. Choate and is survived by one daughter, Louise Thompson of Sugar Grove, Va.; one half brother, W. W. Catron of Florida; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 11 a.m. at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Teas, Va., with the Rev. Joyce Tindell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pugh Cemetery in Teas, Va. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, c/o Joann Barton, Route 1, Sugar Grove, VA 24375. COOK, Henry John, Sr., 71, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 2, 1994. He was a retired plumber and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving are four sons, Henry John Cook, Jr., Vinton, Donald Glenn Cook, Roanoke, Larry Edgar Cook, Buchanan, Robert Allen Cook, Newport, N. C.; three stepdaughters, Becky Morris, Loretta Spence, both of Roanoke, Laura Dyer, Blue Ridge; two stepsons, Clifford Anderson of Roanoke, Harvey Anderson, Salem; five brothers, Jerry Cook, Roanoke, Walter Cook, Troutville, Braxton Cook, Roanoke, Leslie Cook, Vinton, Gene Cook, Indianapolis, Indiana; four sisters, Dorothy Robertson, Buchanan, Verna Abbatello, Isabelle Thompson, Lula Chadwick, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Kevin Cook, Charles Clayton Cook, Tiffanie Dyer, Jessica Dyer, Seth Spence, Leanna Spence, McKenna Morris, Sara Anderson, and Joseph Anderson. GOLDSMITH, Thomas Courtland, (""Court""), of Springfield, passed away on Friday, April 1, 1994. He was the husband of Deborah Marie Goldsmith, the father of Amy, Courtland and Christopher Goldsmith, the son of Robert S. Goldsmith and Isabel Parish, and the brother of Gray, Rob, Doug and Allan Goldsmith. Friends may call at Demain Springfield-Annandale Chapel, Backlick and Edsall Rds. GROSS, Cecelia Price, 81, of Narrows, died Sunday evening, April 3, 1994 in the Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mack Gross. She is survived by her children and their husbands, Evelyn G. and Bobby Hale, Roanoke, Emogene G. and Buddy Fisher, Narrows, Ann Chaney, Houston, Texas, Janice Frye, Pearisburg, Mary Jo Turner, Narrows; a son, James Willard Gross, Vinton; two brothers, Buford Price, Narrows, Bill Price, Newport News; a sister, Margie Moore, Ruskin, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. HIZER, Dorothy Brown, 84, of Ronceverte, W.Va., passed away Saturday, April 2, 1994. Of numerous children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her daughter, Joyce Clinebell and grandchildren, Timothy and Carmen Boggs, who reside in Roanoke. HUDDLESTON, Patsy Ann Mitchell, 41, of Rt. 1, Vinton, passed away Sunday, April 3, 1994, at her residence. She was employed at the Hawaiian Sun Tanning Salon, Stewartsville, served several years and was secretary on the recreation department board for Bedford County, also coached T-ball, basketball and football at Stewartsville School. She was also active with Staunton River sports Department, Booster Club and traveled with the squad. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edmond and Sadie Mitchell; and a sister, Elsie Wood. Surviving are her husband, Jerry W. Huddleston; three sons, Tony Lynn Huddleston, Michael Todd Huddleston, Chad Edward Huddleston, all at home; four brothers, James Edward Mitchell, Thomas Calvin Mitchell, both of Bedford, Roger Dale Mitchell, Thomasville, N.C., Danny Wayne Mitchell, Ha rdy; two sisters, Susie Marie Martin, Moneta, Nancy Lee Kennedy, Easley, S.C.; also several nieces and nephews. HYLTON, Odessa Gray, 83, of Salem, died Sunday, April 3, 1994, in a Roanoke nursing home. She is survived by her husband, Joshua Hylton Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua and Mildred Hylton Jr., Moneta, Charles D. and Helen Hylton, Draper; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, with the Rev. William F. Murdock officiating. JOHNSON, Anna Mayo, of 200 Willis Dr., Lynchburg, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, April 2, 1994, at the Camelot Nursing Home, Lynchburg. Her remains rest at the Bedford Funeral Home. She was the wife of the late Isaac Johnson. Born in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Mayo and Martha Mayo. She was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bedford County. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Florence M. Day, Lynchburg and Mrs. Goldie M. Miller, Rusburg; a devoted niece, Mrs. Eleanor Franklin; three nephews, William L. Johns Jr., Farrell D. Johns, and Lewis I. Miller Jr.; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 1994, at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bedford County, with the Rev. Phillip E. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state until one hour prior to funeral service. The family will be receiving friends at the residence, 200 Willis Dr., Lynchburg. JOHNSTON, John David Sr., 97, of Pulaski, died Monday, April 4, 1994. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Funeral Chapel.

KEFFER, Minor Roscoe, 83, of Catawba, died on Monday, April 4, 1994. He was the husband of June S. Keffer and longtime owner and operator of Catawba Mercantile Company. Mr. Keffer was a member of the Catawba United Methodist Church, the Catawba Valley Ruritan Club, and Island Ford Hunt Club. He was a charter member of the Catawba Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a Shriner and and a 50-year member of the New Castle Mt. Lodge #140 AFAM and the Salem Odd Fellows Lodge #100. He served 20 years on the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors and was named Roanoke Valley Citizen of the Year in 1995. He was also an independent dealer with Southern States Corp. for over 50 years. Left to love and cherish his memory in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Betty K. and Bob Munsey of Bland; a daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Keffer of Salem; five grandchildren, Kim, Kevin, and Kendall Keffer of Salem, and Michael and Debbie Munsey of Bland; a sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Gerald Custer of Salem; and two sisters-in-law, Anne Keffer of Salem, and Dorothy Fridley of Covington. He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Wayne M. Keffer; and a brother, Lawrence L. Keffer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 3 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Rob Colwell, Rev. Eddie Barnett, and Rev. R. Stuart Carlton officiating and the Rev. Lorraine Taylor, soloist. Internment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. POE, Annie Davidson, 85, of Marion, died Sunday, April 3, 1994 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Mrs. Poe was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Fred R. YOUNG, Leonard Douglas, 74, of Rt. 1, Glade Hill, died Sunday, April 3, 1994, in the local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Betty R. Young; one son, Thomas Lee Young; one daughter, Brenda Y. Harrison, both of Glade Hill; two grandchildren, Chester Dale Harrison, Thomas Lee Young Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and Bob Buckner, Glade Hill. Two nieces and two nephews also survive. Funeral servi ces will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Guy Hartsock and Rev. Eddie Peters officiating.
