ROANOKE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT ENTERPRISE GRANT

Roanoke will hold public meetings around the city next week to explain its pursuit of a $3 million "enterprise community" grant.

The federal grants are being sought by local governments to help impoverished neighborhoods.

Chief Community Planner John Marlles said citizens can learn about the grant process and make suggestions about how the money could be used.

The meetings are set for:

Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Eureka Park Recreation Center, 1529 Carroll Ave. N.W.

Wednesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Highland Park Elementary School, 1212 Fifth St. S.W.

Thursday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Belmont Fire House Neighborhood Center, 1015 Jamison Ave. S.E.
