NO ONE IS HURT AS SNEEZE-STRICKEN DEPUTY HITS TRUCK

A sneezing attack was the ruin of Phyllis Simmons' Tuesday morning.

At about 9:19 a.m., the Botetourt County sheriff's deputy drove south on Virginia 604. As she rounded a curve in the road, near the 604 Minute Market, she started to sneeze, according to State Trooper S.T. Oliver.

Before she knew it, her patrol car had hit the rear of a pickup truck that was stopped in the road. Simmons, 47, of Buchanan, and the driver of the truck, Douglas Burns, 26, of Fincastle, were not injured.

Burns was stopped, waiting to make a left turn across northbound 604.
