VINTON WOMAN'S CLUB RECEIVE SEVERAL AWARDS

The Junior Woman's Club of Vinton recently received 15 awards during Blue Ridge District meeting. The club also was earned a special award for its joint membership drive with the Woman's Club of Vinton.

First-place honors include a General Federation of Women's Clubs special project award for child abuse prevention; a Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs state project award for Camp Easter Seal-West; a public relations and communications award; a public affairs award for crime prevention; a health and mental health award; and Home life award; and conservation award.

Second-place honors were for leadership, public affairs, membership, fund-raising, newsletter, arts and crafts, and literature and drama.

The Vinton club also gave its Kathryn Sowers Leadership Award to the Brambleton Junior Women's Club. Sowers is the founder of the Vinton club.
