UVA'S WATSON TOP ACC ROOKIE IN LACROSSE

Michael Watson, the conference's rookie of the year, heads a five-man Virginia contingent on the All-ACC men's lacrosse team announced Tuesday.

Watson,a freshman attackman, has 22 goals and 16 assists for the Cavaliers. He is joined on the first team by teammates James Ireland in goal, Craig Ronald on defense, Greg Traynor in midfield and Tim Whiteley on attack. Five first-team selections are the most for UVa since the Cavaliers had seven in 1984.

Ryan Wade, a senior midfielder for North Carolina, was named the ACC's player of the year for the second consecutive season. Dave Klarmann was named coach of the year after guiding the Tar Heels to their 10th ACC tournament championship.
