KINSTON PITCHERS STIFLE SALEM 3-1

Jose Cabrera and Todd Ruyak combined on a four-hitter as the Kinston Indians defeated the Salem Buccaneers 3-1 on Saturday night in a Carolina League baseball game at Grainger Stadium.

Cabrera (2-4) gave up all of Salem's hits in five innings of work.

Ruyak picked up his first save by throwing four scoreless innings and facing the minimum 12 batters, the last 11 retired in succession.

Jason Abramavicius (1-2) gave up three runs - one earned - in four innings and took the loss.

Shortstop Ramon Zapata was the only Salem player with two hits.
