WHERE TO FIND HELP

USAir's Fearful Flyers Program, which costs $325, consists of five three-hour evening sessions of group instruction over five consecutive weeks at area airports. Classes are offered at different times in 11 cities. The final session includes a ``graduation'' flight for which class members can bring a guest. USAir also offers a book based on the program called ``Fly Without Fear.'' Details are available from Box 100, Glenshaw, Pa. 15116, 412-366-8112.

American Airlines' AAir Born program - which costs $445 for registration 30 days prior to the program and $495 within 30 days - is similar in approach to the USAir program but is condensed into one weekend. American also includes a trip at the end of the program but, it is on a regularly scheduled flight. For further information, call 800-451-5106.

Among other fearful-flyer resources:

``The Fearful Flyers Resource Guide,'' by Barry Elkus and Murray E. Tieger, is available for $13.95 plus $3.95 for shipping and handling from Argonaut Entertainment, 455 Delta Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45226, 800-776-9800.

``How to Fly - Relaxed and Happy From Takeoff to Touchdown,'' by Natalie Windsor (Corkscrew Press), is available at bookstores for $5.95.

Thairapy (4500 Campus Dr., Suite 628 F, Newport Beach, Calif. 92660, 714-756-1133) is a more modest tape program developed by a behavior therapist. The cost is $21.95 plus $3 for shipping and handling.
