KNIFING, SHOOTING, BEATING REPORTED

The fight allegedly erupted over a near fender-bender. In the end, the throat of a 21-year-old Northwest Roanoke man was cut.

Early Friday morning, David James Link of Lancelot Lane was in the parking lot of his apartment building when an unidentified motorist nearly backed into his car, Roanoke police said. The two argued; at one point the man allegedly grabbed Link's throat.

Link told police he freed himself and went to his apartment to get his gun, and when he got inside, he realized his throat had been sliced.

Link was treated at Lewis-Gale Hospital, police said. A spokesman at the hospital said he was unable to confirm whether Link was treated there. No one has been arrested.

In an earlier incident, a 19-year-old Northwest Roanoke man was shot in the head Thursday evening, allegedly by an unidentified man who burst into an apartment wearing a black hood and white mask and carrying a handgun, Roanoke police said.

According to the police, Chad David Nott of Greenridge Road was in a Ferncliff area apartment at about 9:30 p.m. when the unidentified man pushed his way into the apartment. A man with Nott, Mario Roberto Womble, 17, of Signal Hill Avenue Northwest, tried to push the masked man out of the apartment. The man then drew his handgun and fired.

Nott was struck in the left side of his head and treated at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. Womble was not injured.

The man ordered Nott and Womble to lie on the ground outside the apartment. From Nott, the man took $60, and from Womble, he took three rings and $220, police said.

Later Thursday night, a 39-year-old man was allegedly beaten by three men, one claiming the victim had put him in jail.

Michael Allen St. Clair of Williamson Road Northwest was beaten as he walked on the 800 block of Curtis Avenue Northwest, he told police. An old green Nova stopped and three men got out of the car and beat him, he said. His nose was broken during the incident and $320 was taken from him, he said.

St. Clair refused medical treatment, police said.
