COUNTRY MUSIC STATION EARNS NO. 1 RATING

Country music radio station WYYD (107.9 FM) tightened its grip on the top overall rating among Roanoke-Lynchburg radio stations in the spring Arbitron ratings released Thursday.

Crediting the staff, a renewed emphasis on oldies and a strong spring listener promotion, Program Director Kenny Shelton said the station had an 18.8 share - up 0.8 of a point from the fall ratings - among listeners age 12 and older. Market share is expressed in terms of percentage of the total radio audience.
