WEATHER DIMENSIONS INC.

Founder, president: Dan Ingalls Jr.

Employees: 2

Product: The Fourth Dimension, a computerized weather station that displays minute-by-minute weather information on a computer screen.

What it displays: Temperature, humidity, wind chill, barometric pressure, mean and maximum wind speed, wind direction, precipitation and maximum rate of rainfall. Can be programmed to compare weather during different time periods. Stores 10 years' worth of weather data.

Price: $1,795 for complete station, which includes weather sensors, computer processor and color-display computer screen.

Software compatibility: Weather Dimensions makes software compatible with computerized weather stations made by other weather-instrument manufacturers. Cost: $395 for full software, $79 for a scaled-down "light" version that can be expanded.

Weather software for your personal computer? Not yet. For now, the Fourth Dimension software requires a "dedicated" computer that displays weather information full time. But Weather Dimensions is working on software that would work with Apple, IBM and IBM compatibles.

Display models: At the Science Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke and the lobby of The Homestead hotel in Hot Springs.
