BREWSTER, Georgia Christine Kesler, 85, of South Hill, formerly of Ormond Beach, Fla. died Sunday, August 28, 1994, in South Hill, Va. She was the widow of Edward C. Brewster and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ruth K. Martin of South Hill; two brothers, Richard W. Kesler of Pinehurst, N.C. and Benjamin R. Kesler Sr. of Charlottesville, Va.; also surviving are two nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Brewster was born in Franklin County, Virginia June 14, 1909 the daughter of the late Rev. George Thomas and Mallie Scales Brewster. She was a graduate of Emory and Henry College and taught high school for several years before becoming employed as a translator for the Federal Government. She was a member of the Ormond Beach United Universalist Church, D.A.R., Emory and Henry College Alumni Association, Blackstone College Alumni Association, and V. F.W. Auxiliary. Memorial services were conducted Sunday, August 28, 1994, in South Hill. Farrar Funeral Home, South Hill , Va. is in charge of arrangements.

CALLAHAN, N. Ruth Hammock, 90, of Henry, died Saturday, August 27, 1994. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Chapel, Bassett.

COOPER, Inez, 83, of Roanoke, died Saturday, August 27, 1994 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Tyler County, W. Va., July 15, 1911, a daugher of the late Wylie and Laura Crawford Midcap. She was a member of the Brown Street Church of Christ, Akron, Ohio and was retired from the dry cleaning business. Survivors include her son, Joseph O. Cooper, Jr., Houston, Texas; two daughters, Lois Radcliff, Roanoke, Donna Krizo, Garden Grove, Calif.; one brother, James Midcap, Akron, Ohio; one sister, Blanche Fluharty, Moundsville, W. Va.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph O. Cooper Sr., one daughter, Carol Swartzmiller, and by four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services 1p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 1994 in the Eckels-Myers Funeral Home Chapel, Sistersville, W. Va. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in the Friendly Cemetery, Friendly, W. Va..

CRAIG, Crayton Louis Sr., 77, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, August 27, 1994 at the Virginia Veteran Care Center, Salem, Va. He was a World War II veteran and a retiree of the Veterans Adminstration Hospital, after 35 years of service. He was a member and Deacon of Cloverdale Baptist Church. He is survived by a devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Blanche C. Craig; sons, Crayton L. Craig Jr. and Nathaniel Nero Craig; son-in-law, James Childress Jr.; daughters, Phyllis C. Childress, Deborah C. Craig, Terri Richardson; seven grandchildren, Charelene, Mark, Myisha, Latoya, Nathan, James and Mario; one sister, Anna and husband, McKinnley Beane; devoted cousins, Paul and Calvin Staples; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Cloverdale, with burial in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

DAVIS, Mary Louise, 59, of Lexington, died Saturday, August 27, 1994. She is survived by one son, Gary Wayne Smith, Buchanan; one daughter, Wanda Lee Smith, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Wesley B. (Buster) Beckner, Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Scott Alexander Abshire and Edward Dale Smith. DRAPER, Pearle VanDyke, 84, of Salem, passed away Sunday, August 28, 1994. She was the widow of George W. Draper. She is survived by three daughters, Ann deOlazarra of Salem, Georgenia Compton of Virginia Beach, Theda Blackwelder of Middletown, Del.; three sons-in-law, Richard, John and David; one brother, Samuel VanDyke; sisters, Stella Whitt and Helen Ball all of Abingdon, June Lambert of Bowling Green; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 1994, at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem with the Rev. Dr. David Blackwelder, the Rev. James Rivers and the Rev. FERGUSON, Roy Swanson, 75, of Roanoke and formerly of Goodview, passed away Saturday, August 27, 1994, in the Veterans Hospital in Salem, Va. He was a retired plumber and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Burnett Ferguson; three sons, Roy Douglas Ferguson and Calvin Wayne Ferguson both of Goodview, Robert William Ferguson of Salem; one daughter, Deborah F. Chattin of Goodview; a sister-in-law, Catherine Bryant Ferguso n of Roanoke; also four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. GREENWOOD, Bertha H., 95, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, August 27, 1994. She was the widow of Wellmon H. Greenwood and a native of Botetourt Co. and had lived in Roanoke for many years. She was an active member of Ghent Brethren Church. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mae P. Beckner of Martinsville; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel noon Tuesday, with the Rev. Danny Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park. GUNTER, Evelyn Ayers, 76, of Salem, died Thursday, August 25, 1994. She is preceded in death by her husband, Noah Gunter; son, Charles Curtis Gunter; daughters, Cindy Gunter, and Janice Crawford; brother, Hubert Ayers. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Charlie Gunter, Chance Crawford, Scott Crawford, Chris Crawford, Mark Mills, Amber Mills, Gail Owens; two great-grandchildren, Kiel Gunter, Jacob Owens. HIGGINS, Herman J., (``Pee Wee''), 50 of Manassas Park, Va. died Saturday, August 27, 1994, in the Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Va. Born in King George County, Va. on July 24, 1944, he was the son of Goldie Horn Higgins of Manassas Park and the late Herman E. Higgins. He was a member of the Lexington Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving with his mother, is a daughter, Becky Higgins of Manassas and three grandchildren; two sisters, Effie Robinson of Alexandria and Mildred VanNess of Boyce; three brothers, Fred Higgins of Buena Vista, Richard Higgins and Ralph Higgins both of Front Royal. She was a rising senior at Franklin County High School and was employed by Eldercare of Franklin County as a nurses aide. She is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Judy James, Ferrum; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Jennifer and John Bibbee, Virginia Beach, Melissa James and Ashley James, both of the home; her grandparents, Roy and Harriett Gillispie, Ferrum, Wilson and Tiny Crum, Front Royal, and Albert and Claudine James, Ferrum; great-grandparents, Lucy Crum, Rocky Mount, Lera James, Ferrum; her fiance, Mike Bowling, Rocky Mount; and numberous aunts, uncles and cousins. PUCKETT, Roland Baxter, 53, of Rt. 1, Box 39, Fancy Gap, husband of Norma Reynolds Puckett, died Saturday afternoon, August 27, 1994, at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., after a short illness. Mr. Puckett was born in Carroll County, Va., June 10,1941 to the late Volney and Clara Bowman Puckett, was part owner with Blue Ridge Market of Hillsville, Va., a member of Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF and AM in Hillsville, Va., and was a member of the Fancy Gap United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Norma Reynolds Puckett, of the home; a daughter, Miss Sarah Faye Puckett, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Denise Puckett, Craig and Sarah Puckett, all of Fancy Gap, Va.; three grandchildren, Sheena Huff, Shay Puckett and Ashleigh Puckett, all of Fancy Gap, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Gwelda Shelton, Mt. ROBERTSON, William, (``Cook''), 84 of Bassett, died Sunday, August 28, 1994. Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday, Tomlinson Bassett Funeral Chapel.

SAUNDERS, Robert Sheldon, 67, a resident of High Point, died Saturday, August 27, 1994, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Saunders was born February 11, 1927, in Roanoke, Va. a son of William Irby and Mary Garst Saunders. He had been a resident of High Point for 23 years, coming here from Roanoke. A veteran of the WW II, serving in the U. S. Navy, Mr. Saunders was employed with Eastern Airlines Inc. for 35 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. On February 23, 1957, he was married to Rheta Dynoske who survives of the home. Also surviving are, one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Martin of Hillsborough, N.C.; two sons, Robert Walter Saunders of Carrboro, N.C., Ronald William Saunders of Savannah, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Fannie Beasley of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, William G. Saunders of Niceville, Fla., John V. Saunders of Dillwyn, Va., James P. Saunders of Roanoke, Va.; one grandson, James Robert Saunders. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church conducted by Father David J. Devlin O.S.F.S. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Sherwood Burial Park in Salem, Virginia. SZABO, Christine, 75, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 25, 1994, in Richmond. VERNON, Ruby Ayers Carter, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, August 28, 1994, at her home. She was the widow of L. B. Vernon and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira T. Ayers and Kenneth Ayers; sister, Judy Collins and granddaughter, Debbie Farmakis.
