AILSTOCK, Robert Lee Sr., 67, of Callaway, died Saturday, October 1,1994, in Lewis-Gale Hospital. Survivors include his wife, June B. Ailstock; two sons, Thomas W. Ailstock, Bent Mountain and Robert Lee Ailstock, Jr., Salem; his mother, Cora Belle, Waynesboro; two special grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn and Chrisandra Nicole Ailstock; one brother; six sisters. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 3, 1994, at 3 p.m. in the Roaring Run Cemetery, with the Pastor Dennis Ritchey officiating. Arrangements by John M. BARBOUR, Blanche B., 77, of Stanleytown, died Saturday, October 1, 1994. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, Collins Funeral Services Chapel, Bassett.

BRYANT, Mary Alice Coffman, 82, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 1, 1994. She was born in Botetourt County near Pleasant Dale, the daughter of W. K. and Ida Garst Coffman. She was a graduate of Daleville Academy, now affiliated with Bridgewater College, and Lewis-Gale School of Nursing with an RN degree, where she served as a private duty nurse for several years. She was a member of Central Church of the Brethren for 57 years. She served within the church as a Sunday School teacher, Children's Director, Vacation Bible School Director, Director of Religious Education, Church Board Member and as a member of various committees. She was also active in the Woman's Work and was a Life Deacon. She served the Church district as a member of the Virlina District Church of the Brethren Woman's Work Committee and Children's Cabinet. Mary was active in the Girl Scout Organization, as a member for more than 46 years. She became a member of the Roanoke Girl Scout Council and served as President of the Board of Directors. She was involved in the forming of the Old Dominion Girl Scout Council in 1960. In 1963, she was instrumental in the consolidation of the six Virginia Girl Scout Councils into the Virginia Skyline Girl Sco ut Council. In addition, she served as a member of several committees and held offices of Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer for the council. She was also involved in the selection and purchase of several girl scout camp properties. She recently received a 45 year pin in honor of her service to the Girl Scout Organization. Mary was active in the PTA in each school her children attended. She has enjoyed flowers and was active in the Grandin Court Garden Club for many years. Mary devoted her life to her family, her church and her community. She was preceded in death by her son, Warren L. Bryant and two brothers, Russell J. Coffman and Percy L. Coffman. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, W. Melvin Bryant; daughter, Janice B. Shober; grandchildren, James Bryant Shober, Katherine L. Shober, Susan S. and Richard Sauerwald; great-granddaughter, Paxton Ann Sauerwald; former daughter-in-law and husband, Gale and Roger Ashby, all of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Willie) and Gertrude Coffman of Bridgewater; Clarence (Mickey) and Georgia Mae Coffman of Roanoke; Robert (Bob) and Carolyn Coffman of Roanoke; sister, Edna Duncan of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Robert Prease of Buchanan; sisters-in-law, Grace Coffman of Fincastle and Hazel Bryant of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 1994, at 11 a.m. at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. David Yingling, Dr. Merlin Garber and the Rev. Ed Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 1994, at 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Lewis-Gale Medical Foundation, Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council, or the Good Samaritan Hospice.

CULBRETH, Pamela Garner, 31, of Roanoke, died Sunday, October 2, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

DEOS, Louis R., 60, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly, Sunday, October 2, 1994. During the last year he had made his home in Shawsville, Va. Mr. Deos was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and attended White Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Shawsville Ruritan Club, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Deos was the former owner/operator of Mediport, Inc. At the time of his death he was an employee of the Roanoke Times. Surviving are his wife, Judith M. Deos; daughter, Jannine N. Deos, Shawsville; sons and daughters-in-love, James (Jimbo) and Tena Cochenour, Bent Mountain, Jonathan (J.D.) and Kathy Cochenour, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Joy Ann and Michael Murray, Hollins; mother-in-love, LaVerna Hendrickson, Lincoln, Neb.; sister and brother-in-law, Jerry and Lyn Terry; nephew, Tim Terry; five grandchildren, Jeremiah Cochenour, Lance Gallimore, Daniel Murray, Adam Murray and Chandler Cochenour. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Shawsville Ruritan Club, Shawsville, Va. 24162. Funeral services will be conducted 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Keith E. Ritchie. Entombment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. FISHER, Jackie Lee, 39, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 1, 1994, as the result of an automobile accident. Mr. Fisher was a lens technician for Lens Lab and was preceded in death by his father, Ed Fisher and his stepfather, Ed Wray. Surviving are his wife, Rose Fisher; son, Chad Fisher; mother, Clara Wray; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Brenda Fisher, Mike and Melody Fisher, Ricky and Christine Fisher, Mark and Jeanne Fisher; brothers-in-law and wives, Michael W. and Paula Dull, Edward L. and Pam Dull, all of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Jack E. Trent and Rev. Wayne Clay Harrision officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel after 10 a.m. Monday, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

GEARHART, Elizabeth G., 59, of Floyd, passed away Saturday, October 1, 1994, in a Salem Hospital. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Bowles. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Lewis Gearhart, Floyd; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Charlotte V. Gearhart, Chesapeake; two grandchildren, James Gearhart and Thomas Dylan Gearhart, both of Chesapeake; four brothers, Grover C. Barlow, Panama City, Fla., Earnest A. Barlow, Floyd, Frank D. Barlow, Bassett, Fred H. Barlow, Floyd. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church (Head of the River) with Elder Hale Terry officiating. GILLIAM, Barbara Jo Farris, 67, of Fairfield, died Sunday, October 2, 1994, in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, Va. Mrs. Gilliam was born October 18, 1926, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Homer Guy Greene and Hattie G. Sorrells Greens. Mrs. Gilliam was a member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church and she was preceded in death by her first husband Vernon W. Farris, September 23, 1969 and by her second husband, Robe rt H. Berry, Sr., April 3, 1989. She is survived by her husband, Marvin (``Gill"") Gilliam, Fairfiled; one daughter, Deborah F. Graham, Fishersville; six sons, Roger W. Farris, Waynesboro, Gary V. Farris, Buena Vista, Victor G. Farris, Fairfield, Anthony V. Farris, Fairfield, Kimbal K. Farris, Fairfield, Eric H. Farris, Fairfield; two stepdaughters, Cindy Bianco, Toano and Kelly Gardner, Toano; two stepsons, Danny Gilliam, Colonial Heights and Jack Gilliam, Williamsburg; one foster son, Harry Bell, Hudson, Fla.; two sisters, Elsie Coleman, Fairfield, Mrs. H. C. (Dot) Hite, Vesuvius; one brother, F. G. (Buddy) Greene, Winchester; 13 grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren. HORNE, Burrell David, 83, of Salem died Friday, September 30, 1994, in a Salem Hospital. he was born in Roanoke County on August 12, 1911, to David Edward and Francis L. Horne. He is preceded in death by sisters, Rettie H. Moses and Glennie H. Stanley; a grandson, Robert Lee Horne. Mr. Horne was a member of the Mountain Pass Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Hairfield Horne; sons and daughter-in- law, Bobby L. and Jackie Horne, George R. Horne, all of Salem, Richard W. Horne, of Montrose, Colorado; daughters and son-in-law, Janet H. Reed, of Salem, Gerry H. and James Goodwin, of Roanoke; a sister, Mabel H. Tucker, of Crewe, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 1994, at 11 a.m. in the John M. LAWRENCE, Eula Mae, 81, of Vinton, formerly of Fairlawn, died Sunday, October 2, 1994. She was the widow of Leonard D. Lawrence and was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale Lawrence, Sr. Surviving are two daughters, Katie Toms, Hardy, Betty Dunn, Princeton, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Styers, Beckley, W.Va. Services will be conducted in the Mausoleum Chapel of Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 1994. The Rev. Dr. George Wesley Jones will officiate. LOGWOOD, Emma Wood, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 1, 1994. She was the widow of Charles P. (Tootie) Logwood, and a member of Melrose Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Wood Hawley, Roanoke; sons, Edward L. (Whitey) Wood Sr., Newport, N.C., Raymond T. Wood, Vinton, Ralph G. Wood, Vine Grove, Ken., Marvin E. Wood, Ishmire, Turkey; brother, James M. Absher Jr., Drennen, W.Va.; sisters, Fannie Dye and Reva Deskins, both of Raven, Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. LUCION, Joseph Matthew, 36, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 1, 1994. Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Jean A. Lucion; his father, Joe Lucion, Fla.; and two brothers. MEREDITH, Peggy Lou, 51, formerly of Floyd, and a resident of English Meadow, Christiansburg, died Sunday, October 2, 1994, in Montgomery Regional Hospital, after a long illness with Muscular Dystrophy. Surviving are her father, Roy E. Blackwell; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and William Griffith; nephew and wife, Jay and Kristi Griffith; niece, Amber Griffith, all of Floyd; two stepnephews and wives, Andy and Carol Griffith, Morganton, N.C., Tony and Sonya Griffith, Floyd; three great-stepnephews, Jacob, Zachary, and Ethon Griffith; a very special great-nephew, Devon Jay Griffith, Floyd; a very good friend, Michael Hopcroft, Christiansburg. MOORE, Lillian, (Girtie), 68, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 1, 1994. Survived by a daughter and son, daughter-in-law; several beloved nephews; and many dear friends. She was a lady who spent her life giving so much to others, and asking so little for herself. The best friend a person could ever have to a lot of people. God knows she will be missed, but He has a special place ready for her now in Heaven, where she can rest and be happy, at last. We love you mom. SAWYERS, Annie Gertrude, 72, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 1, 1994. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son. Surviving is her husband, Walter N. Sawyers; sisters, Margaret McClenney, Nonie Hubbard, both of Norfolk, Irene Lein, Pearl Beach, Calif., and Katie Hite, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews, including Joan Meador, Blue Ridge, George Hite, Roanoke. Graveside services will be conducted at the Blue Ridge Memorial Garden Cemetery, 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Jeff Gardner. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

SLUSHER, Roy Leonard, 78, of Rt. 2, Moneta, passed away Sunday, October 2, 1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Botetourt County on February 17, 1916, to Francis Leroy Slusher and Susan Conner Slusher. He was a charter member of Chamblissburg Baptist Church. He was retired from Sam Moore Chair Factory in Bedford. He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army from April 11, 1941 to December 4, 1945, having been stationed in France from October 1944 to November 1945. His military specialities included field artillery, Cannoner (844), and MM Carbine. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret L. Slusher; three sisters, Erma S. Goodman, Estelle S. Spradlin, and Jeanette O. Slusher, all of Bedford; and special family members and caregivers, David and Valerie Holdren, and their children, Davannah and Ashley Holdren. Funeral services will be held at Chamblissburg Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 1994, with the Rev. George Law officiating. Interment, with military honors by V.F.W. Post 1264, will follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton, or at the home of his wife.
