GRAHAM TOO STRONG FOR CHRISTIANSBURG

Pooh Webb scored a game-high 25 points, dished out three assists and had three steals Monday to lead Graham to a 52-36 girls' basketball victory over Christiansburg.

Graham (5-10) used a full-court press to jump out to a 24-6 halftime lead and never looked back. Kristi Maupin added 10 points and nine rebounds for the winners.

Christiansburg was led by Maureen Jackson, who scored 15 points.

NEW CASTLE - Chrissy Robertson had 13 of her game-high 17 points in the second half as the Rockets won a Pioneer District game.

Craig County (6-7) led 22-13 at halftime and kept the Chargers at bay in the second half. Bonnie Boardwine and Laura Nelson combined for 21 points for the winners.

Bath County (2-13) got 15 points from Katie Hardbarger and 12 from Melanie Woods.

Bland 25

BLAND - Heather Matlock scored eight of her 10 points in the second half and teammate Keli Ratcliffe added 10 as well to lift the Spartans to a non-district win.

Giles (10-4) broke open a relatively close game at halftime by outscoring Bland (0-12) 13-5 in the third quarter.

The game was delayed 25 minutes in the third quarter after Pachess Umbargar injured her back going for a rebound and had to be helped off the court by paramedics.

Marion 59

George Wythe 25

MARION - Leigh Jones and Kiah Miller scored 14 points each to help Marion win its 12th straight as the Scarlet Hurricane rolled past George Wythe in a non-district game.

Jones made 10 of 14 free throws for Marion (14-1) as the Scarlet Hurricane held the Maroons to only eight field goals for the game.

George Wythe did not have a player score in double figures.
