3 CAVALIERS ALL-ACC FOR MEN'S SOCCER

Three University of Virginia players were chosen for the All-ACC men's soccer team by the league's coaches.

Forward A.J. Wood and fullbacks Clint Peay and Brandon Pollard were chosen to represent the Cavaliers on the Atlantic Coast Conference all-star squad.

Kyle Campbell, goaltender for North Carolina State, was chosen the player of the year and Wolfpack coach George Tarantini was voted coach of the year.

In Norfolk, the Ferrum men's soccer team's first postseason appearance ended in disappointment as Virginia Wesleyan routed the Panthers 7-0 in a semifinal of the Virginia Intercollegiate Soccer Association tournament. Ferrum (6-10) did set a school record for victories in a season while qualifying for the tournament with a 2-1 record in VISA games.

Larry Romaine scored two goals for Virginia Wesleyan, which meets Mary Washington on Saturday in the championship game.

In Charlottesville, George Mason scored twice in the opening 22 minutes and went on to defeat Virginia 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA women's soccer tournament. The Patriots (16-2-2) advance to meet Notre Dame on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.; the Cavaliers finish with a 13-5-3 record.

The Radford University men's basketball team tips off the 1994-95 season with an exhibition game against Court Authority tonight at 7:30 at Dedmon Center. The game is open to the public free of charge. The Highlanders play host to the Finnish National Team on Nov.17 before opening the regular season on Nov.26 at home against Catholic University.
