3 area trainers elected to state club

The Virginia Athletic Trainers Association recently appointed three area athletic trainers as officers.

Carleen Felicio, Hollins College, is a member of the association's executive council and will serve as secretary. Chris Tucker, Salem High School, will serve as a regional representative responsible for the western part of the state. Jim Buriak, Roanoke College, will serve as chairman of the public relations committee.

Cave Spring hosts midnight basketball

Cave Spring High School will be the first to host a Virginia high school basketball "Midnight Madness," Nov. 18 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the gym.

Players and fans alike will participate in shooting contests to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Roanoke and Barbara Rhodes Memorial Scholarship Fund. Rhodes, who died last year, is the mother of a senior girl basketball player.

The event kicks off the 1994-95 basketball season and prizes will be awarded to winners. A $1 donation will be requested for admission.
