Piano programs

Calvin Taylor, piano performer of Christian music, will present two programs Sunday at Heritage United Methodist Church, 502 Leesville Road, Lynchburg. "Holy Scripture - Alive With Sounds of Music" will be his theme at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The programs are free.

Taylor, reared in Los Angeles, began playing piano by ear in early childhood. He studied at Oberlin Conservatory on full scholarship and took additional musical training at the University of Michigan. He has toured throughout the world. LARC speaker

The Rev. Dr. Paul R. Nelson, director of worship for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be the keynote speaker for the LARC Conference which will bring together Lutherans, Anglicans (Episcopalians) and Roman Catholics in Charlottesville on Nov. 18 and 19. Rector chosen

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Bedford County has chosen the Rev. Dr. Ronny W. Dower to be its next rector. He has come this month from a church in Marion, Ind.
