ADAMS, Phyllis J., of Sumter, S. C., died Thursday, December 1, 1994, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Oscar A. and Clydia Dalton Pickeral. Mrs. Adams was a member of Hickory Road Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Howard W. Adams; three sons, the Reverend Howard W. Adams, Randlett, Okla., David L. Adams of the home, Dennis R. Adams, Redding, Calif.; one brother, Adrian Pickeral, Roanoke; one sister, Frances Hunt, Roanoke; one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a sister, Oneida Pickeral. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m Sunday, December 3, 1994, in Hickory Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Ladell Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumter Cemetery. Deacons of Hickory Road Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. Capers Hiott and Dr. Thomas E. Hawkey. Memorials may be made to Hickory Road Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

BURNS, Elizabeth Holcomb, 87, of Covington, died Friday, December 2, 1994. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday from the Lexington Street Church of God of Prophecy. Arrangements by Arritt Funeral Home, Covington.

DEYERLE, Christine Quinn, 83, of Boones Mill, died Friday, December 2, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Deyerle. She was a daughter of Christopher Lewis and Mary Frances Quinn. Surviving are three sons, Melvin Deyerle, Raleigh, N.C., Charles Deyerle, Salem, Richard Deyerle, Roanoke; one daughter, Elizabeth Morris, Boones Mill; two sisters, Mattie Robertson, Roanoke, Alice Lee, New Castle. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3, at Maple Grove Church Cemetery, Ferrum, with the Rev. James Steele officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the son, Richard Deyerle, for expenses. Arrington-Bussey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ECONOMYS, Harry N., 91, of Roanoke, died in a Roanoke hospital Friday, December 2, 1994. He was born in Sparta, Greece, the son of Nicholas and Martha Dilbert Economys. He came to America at the age of three. He was a pioneer Roanoke business man, was co-owner of Economys Restaurant and owner of Shenroke Skeet Club and Lee Hy Golf Club. He was a pioneer airplane pilot beginning his career in May 1926 after one hour of instruction. He soloed at Trout Field (the first airfield in Roanoke) and was a member of the Acorn Flying Club, the OX-5 Club (all World War I airplane engines) and the Quiet Birdman Club. He was a member of Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Kazim Temple, and the Elks Club. He was a charter member of the Order of the AHEPA Club (American-Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) and was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a champion skeet shooter. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathryn Hanzas Economys; sister, Lillian Tarabicos, Dallas, Texas; numerous loving nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; as well as great-great nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. A Trisagion service will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Nicholas Bacalis officiating. Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 5055, Roanoke, VA 24012. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

ESTES, Ruby L. Drew Garrett, of Detroit, Mich. and a native of Bedford County, passed away Thursday, December 1, 1994. She was born November 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Alonza Lee Drew and Larlar Burdette Drew. Survivors include one daughter, Verenell Garrett Kyles; granddaughter, Parie Garrett; grandson, Matthew D. Garrett and great-grandson, Paris M. Garrett all of Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel (Harold) Payne, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Vernice (Jimmie) Penn, Roanoke; seven brothers, Clarence (Irnishel) Drew, Richmond, William (Mahalia) Drew, Columbus Ohio, Odell (Thalia) Drew and Louis (Rebekah) Drew both of Roanoke, Curtis (Carolyn) Drew, Thomas (Jean) Drew and Albert (Josephine) Drew all of Fort Washington, Md. GRAVES, Nancy Lee, 66, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, December 1, 1994 in Radford Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude P. Graves. KNIGHT, William Junior, 62, of Boones Mill, died Friday morning, December 2, 1994, at the home of his si ster, Mrs. Helen Spangler. He was born September 11, 1932, in Bellewood, Tenn., son of the late William F. and Ina Scott Knight of Benton, Kentucky. Mr. Knight was a Disabled Veteran having served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Bonbrook Baptist Church of Boones Mill and was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Webber and Flossie Polk; one brother, James A. Knight. Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilford and Helen Spangler of Boones Mill, Frank and Sue Roberson of Lady Lake, Fla., Eugene and Jessie Powell, Gilbertsville, Kentucky; one brother, Charles R. Knight, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Tom Cain officiating. MANLEY, Emily Martin, 78, of Lexington, died Thursday, December 1, 1994 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Manley was born May 31, 1916 in New Jersey, a daughter of the late Christopher Leonard Schmidt and Mary Amelia Martin Schmidt. She was a member of the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church and was a retired R. N. with Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was the widow of Lawrence J. Manley. Surviving are three children, James E. Manley, Baltimore, Md., Joan M. Manley, Lexington, Peggy A. Leasure, Lexington; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 1994, at the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Whiteley officiating. PHILPOTT, Frances Archer 71, of Rt. 2, Ridgeway, died Friday, December 2, 1994, at Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. She was the widow of both, Dewey A. Archer and James E. Philpott. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Burton (Kay) Grogan, Fieldale, Mrs. J. C. (Linda) Ayers, Union Hall, Mrs. Samuel (Connie) Hubbard, Horsepasture; a son, William Ronald Broughman, Martinsville; a brother, James Broughman, Clarksville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. RULEY, Dagmer Reed, 87, of Lexington, Va. died Friday, December 2, 1994, at the Stonewall Jackson E. C. F. Mrs. Ruley was born January 14, 1907 in Rockbridge County a daughter of the late Willie Reed. She was a member of the Ebenezer A. R. P. Church and the widow of Robert Bruce Ruley. Surviving are three daughters, Ann R. Manuel of Killen, Ala., Ruth R. Mays of Lexington, Va., Diane R. Dudley of Lexington, Va.; one sister, Lolita R. Hartley of Farmville, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. WILSON, Rayman Lee 76, of Roanoke, died in a local hospital, Thursday, December 1, 1994. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of Teamsters Local Union #171. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Hiner Wilson; sons, Rayman Lee Wilson Jr., Walter R. Wilson, Gary L. Wilson, Larry W. Wilson, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Amanda K. Hopkins, Roanoke, Larry Wilson Jr. and Brian Wilson, both of Vinton, Bobbijean Wilson, Roanoke; a siste r, Mary Jane Perdue, Roanoke; also several nieces and nephews. WIMMER, Jerry Neil 53, of Check, passed away Friday, December 2, 1994 in a Roanoke hospital. He was employed by Appalachian Power Company in Roanoke for 28 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Fay Wimmer. Surviving are his wife, Trena Yates Wimmer, Check; one daughter, Alison Ann Wimmer, Check; mother, Weta Smith Wimmer, Check; one sister, Sue Waldron, Check; four nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Joseph Stone and the Rev. Steven Dye officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
