Navy Dentalman MATTHEW S. RITTER, son of Gregory L. and Sandra Q. Ritter of Christiansburg, has reported for duty with the 21st Dental Company, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Navy Personnel Office, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Navy Seaman Recruit EDWIN A. ISAACSON, son of Edwin A. Isaacson III of Christiansburg, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Recruit DANIEL E. FAUL, son of Alice Thompson of Christiansburg, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Recruit DOUGLAS TUCKER, son of Warren D. and Edith D. Tucker of Pulaski, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Recruit DAVID J. MELTON, son of Douglas J. and Stella L. Melton of Pulaski, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Fireman DONALD A. LAWSON, son of Charlie A. and Joyce A. Lawson of Barren Springs, is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Black seas aboard the destroyer USS Deyo, home-ported in Charleston, S.C.

Marine Pvt. DAVID L. DRAPER, former resident of Pulaski County, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Navy Machinist Mate 3rd Class BEN TURNAUER, son of Martin S. Turnauer of Radford, has been assigned to the nuclear cruiser Bainbridge stationed in Norfolk and will be deployed to the Caribbean Sea in January.

Air Force Airman 1st Class CHAD E. LITTERAL, son of Paulette H. Litteral of Blacksburg and Larry L. Litteral of Arlington, recently was promoted to his present rank. Litteral is stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, Ariz.

Army Pfc. CHRISTOPHER A. BELL, son of Shelby and Bill A. Bell of Dublin, recently reported for duty at Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class TROY H. DALTON, son of Janet P. and Troy H. Dalton Sr. of Radford, is midway through a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian oceans with the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, home-ported in San Diego, Calif.

Marine Cpl. JAMES H. WILSON, son of James H. and Ann Wilson of Blacksburg, has reported for duty with the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Lynchburg.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class JOHN R. CRUZ, whose wife, Kristal, is the daughter of Bobby W. Taylor of Dublin and Joyce L. Taylor of Pulaski, has returned home to Norfolk, after completing a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas and Persian Gulf aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Thomas S. Gates, as part of the USS George Washington Battle Group.

Virginia Tech ROTC Cadet KELLY M.J. DICKERSON, son of Helen Harrison of Christiansburg, received practical work in military leadership at the ROTC advanced camp in Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. Successful completion of the camp and graduation from college results in a commission as 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army, Guard or Reserve.

JOETTA STEVENS, of Shawsville has joined the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation as a field representative. Stevens joins more than 1,000 field representatives worldwide in the search for servicewomen who have served in the United States armed forces from the revolutionary war, through the present and into the future. Construction of a memorial to honor the women was mandated by Congress in 1986.
