MAN CONVICTED IN ROBBERIES

A Roanoke man accused of robbing convenience stores in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem was convicted Monday of two counts of robbery.

Ronald W. Roop, 31, pleaded guilty to the charges in Roanoke Circuit Court.

Roop was charged with robbing three stores in one weekend in order to support his addiction to crack cocaine. Another man has also been charged in the robberies.

Roop is scheduled to be back in court Dec. 22, when a Roanoke County judge will sentence him for the robberies in all three jurisdictions.
